Incident management training
There are many considerations when training for dealing with incidents involving immediate life threatening bleeding, unlike medical professionals the first aider may have deal with this once in a lifetime.
Considerations
- The course is a rehearsal for the real thing.
- We make good decisions when we have made bad decisions – this is experience.
- The decisions are real, the emotions are real, the kit is real - the only thing not real on a training course is the consequence. People do not ‘die’ of blood loss in the training room.
- Learning and becoming skilful involves reviewing, analysing, evaluating and then applying in new circumstances
